Terms of use
MPGolf · last changed 16/10/2026
Who this is with
MPGolf is run by Mates Playing Golf ("we"). By making an account or using the app you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
Questions: MPGDeleteAccount@javeed.co.uk.
What MPGolf is
MPGolf is a golf scorecard, a record of your rounds, and a set of tools for golf societies to run their events. It is free to use at present. If that ever changes we will tell you before anything is charged.
It is a scorecard, not a referee. The players, and a society’s committee, decide what a score was and who won.
Your account
- You must be 18 or over.
- One account for each person, in your own name.
- You sign in with a code sent to your email address, or with your Google account. Anybody who can read that mailbox, or use that Google account, can sign in as you, so keep both secure.
- You can delete your account at any time from your profile. What goes and what stays is set out in the privacy notice.
Using it fairly
Use MPGolf honestly. Do not enter scores or handicaps you know to be false, add people who would not expect to be there, upload anything unlawful or that is not yours to use, try to reach data that is not shared with you, or copy the app or its course data in bulk.
We may suspend or close an account that does any of these.
What you put in
Your scores and details stay yours. You give us permission to store them and to show them to the people the privacy notice says can see them, for as long as you use the app.
When you upload a society logo, a photograph of a trophy, a document for a society’s members (such as its constitution or minutes) or a photograph of a scorecard, you confirm you have the right to use it and to share it with the members. A club’s badge needs the club’s permission. Anybody can report an image and we will remove one that should not be there.
When you type in a guest’s name, or an organiser adds a member’s details, you confirm that person would expect it.
Societies and their events
A society on MPGolf is run by its own admins and organisers. They set its handicaps, its rules and its results, and they are responsible for them. We do not run competitions, hold entry fees or award prizes.
Green fees and deposits are paid to the society or the club directly, by whatever way its organisers give (a pay link, a bank transfer, the pro shop). MPGolf never takes, holds or passes on any money. A tick on Who’s paid is the organiser’s record, not a receipt from us; anything about a payment is between you and the society.
Joining a society shares your playing record with its members. The screen says what will be shared before you confirm.
Handicaps and course data
The MPGolf handicap is worked out by the app for your information. MPGolf is not an authorised World Handicap System service, and the figure is not an official Handicap Index.
Course figures (par, stroke index, ratings, yards) come from clubs’ own scorecards, from course databases and from other golfers. They can be wrong. Check them against the card on the day.
What we promise, and what we do not
We take reasonable care to keep the app working and your history safe. We do not promise it will always be available or free of mistakes. Keep the paper card for any round that matters until the result is settled.
We are not responsible for losses that we could not reasonably have foreseen, for business losses, or for the outcome of any competition, bet or prize decided using the app.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not let us limit. Your rights as a consumer are not affected.
Use your phone on the course only when it is safe, and where the club allows it.
What is ours
The app, its design and its name belong to Mates Playing Golf. You may use it for your own golf, and may not copy, resell or reverse engineer it.
Changes, and ending
We may change these terms. When a change matters we will tell you in the app before it applies. Carrying on using the app after that means you accept it.
You can stop at any time by deleting your account. We may withdraw the app; if we do, we will give notice in the app and a way to take a copy of your history where we reasonably can.
The law that applies
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you can also bring a claim in your own courts.
